Burn More Calories than You Consume

When you're overweight and complaining that you can't lose any of the excess no matter what you do, then the simple truth is that you are not doing enough to make it happen. This article is going to be hard hitting and brutally honest with you. So no cringing away or crying off what it tells you.

It's a simple case of trying to make excuses that you have figured out all by yourself how to defy the laws of physics. The simple fact is that mass cannot be created out of nothing. Unless you are a potted plant, you cannot create mass by photosynthesis so you must be creating it from somewhere.

If I had a dollar for every overweight person that came into my consulting rooms and told me they were overweight because of a medical condition, I would have retired years ago. Oh, you have faulty glands? Arthritis making you fat, is it? You have an under-active thyroid?

Well, I have to tell you that those and all other excuses do not hold up because if you are gaining weight and not exercising, you are eating too much, or more correctly, you are consuming more calories than your body is burning. The excess calories that your body does not convert to energy and burn is stored as fat.

Losing Weight is that Simple

What, your under-active thyroid means you are too tired to exercise? Fine, but does it also make you want to eat all the cookies in the jar? Or gobble up a whole plateful of pasta and super-rich sauce? No, only you can make that decision.

Of you can make the decision to eat only sparingly because your metabolism is not converting much of the food you eat into energy. The bottom line is that to gain mass, and in the case of overweight people that usually equates to stored fat, you must eat more calories than you burn.

The flip side is also very basic, fundamental and simple. If you want to lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you consume.

To do that, you can do one of three things.

So it stands to reason that if you want to store less fat and burn the excess fat you already have, you need to adjust your diet so that you restrict your calorie intake while at the same time taking up a good exercise program. This will get your muscles working hard enough and long enough so that they force your body to release its store of fat and convert it to burnable fuel to keep the muscles working.

As mentioned in the article "Build Muscle to Burn Fat", you must build up the strength in your muscles in order to get them burning more and more of the excess calories and get them depleting your blood sugar levels to force your body into releasing its store of fat to make up the shortfall. This is how you lose weight and do it in such a way to prevent it coming back on so easily.
